Job summary

CapstoneONE Search is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager for a flagship West Michigan operation. You will lead the Maintenance and Facilities Engineering teams, drive reliability, and manage capital projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a strong technical background, proven leadership, and a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or 10+ years of relevant management experience.
• At least seven years in facilities management with 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong technical understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
• Experience implementing Lean, TPM, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Maintenance and Facilities Engineering departments, providing technical direction, setting performance expectations, and developing the team.
• Drive equipment reliability, asset utilization, and reduce downtime through preventive maintenance, TPM, and Lean initiatives.
• Oversee daily maintenance operations, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal resources and contractors to support production.
• Develop and execute facility improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and capital projects with strong ROI justification.
• Manage departmental budgets, monitor KPIs, and implement improvements for maintenance efficiency and cost control.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and other leaders to minimize disruptions and support plant-wide safety and productivity.

Job description

A globally prominent and rapidly growing industrial manufacturer seeks to hire an experienced Maintenance Manager at their flagship operation in West Michigan. Reporting the General Manager, this high-visibility role will oversee the maintenance and facilities engineering functions within a complex manufacturing operation, with responsibility for equipment reliability, plant infrastructure, capital improvements, and departmental performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, proven leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead the Maintenance and Facilities Engineering departments, providing technical direction, establishing performance expectations, and developing the capabilities of team members.
• Drive equipment reliability, asset utilization, and reduced downtime through preventive maintenance programs, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and other Lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Oversee daily maintenance operations, equipment troubleshooting, and the coordination of internal resources and outside contractors to support production requirements.
• Develop and execute facility improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and capital projects, including the evaluation and justification of capital expenditures.
• Manage departmental budgets, establish and monitor key performance metrics, and implement improvements that strengthen maintenance effectiveness and cost efficiency.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, and other functional leaders to prioritize maintenance activities, minimize production disruptions, and support plant-wide improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in engineering or other, technical discipline OR a high school diploma with at least 10 years of relevant, management experience..
• Minimum of seven years of experience in facilities management or related functions, including at least five years in a leadership or management capacity.
• Strong technical understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment, maintenance practices, and facility infrastructure within a complex production environment.
• Demonstrated success implementing Lean manufacturing principles, TPM, preventive maintenance strategies, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
