Job summary

TLD Logistics Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Maintenance Manager to lead the strategic and operational maintenance of our commercial fleet across the network. You will direct supervisors, shop personnel, and partners to ensure safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

You will establish maintenance strategy, monitor performance, and drive preventive programs while managing budgets, records, and vendor relationships to support dependable transportation services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive commercial fleet maintenance experience; 5+ years in a manager role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel tractors, trailers, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA inspection, repair, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Experience managing budgets, parts inventory, vendors, warranties, and maintenance metrics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and fleet-management systems; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance, repair, inspection, and shop operations for tractors, trailers, and equipment.
• Establish and execute fleet maintenance strategy, standards, staffing, and performance expectations.
• Monitor fleet condition, availability, workload, and prioritize repairs to maintain capacity.
• Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs based on specs, conditions, and regulations.

• Ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance; address defects and out-of-service conditions promptly.
• Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate maintenance staff; enforce safety and performance.
• Plan and manage annual maintenance budget; monitor costs and variances.
• Analyze maintenance trends and KPIs; drive corrective and continuous improvement actions.
• Develop long-range fleet replacement and maintenance-capital plans; present to senior leadership.

Job description

The Senior Maintenance Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of TLD's commercial fleet of tractors, trailers, and related equipment. This role establishes fleet maintenance strategy and standards; leads maintenance supervisors, shop personnel, and external service partners; and directs preventive maintenance, repairs, roadside support, vendor performance, parts control, and capital planning. The Senior Maintenance Manager is accountable for equipment availability, maintenance cost, regulatory compliance, repair quality, and the development of a high-performing maintenance organization that supports dependable transportation operations across TLD's network.

Essential Functions

• Lead all aspects of fleet maintenance, repair, inspection, and shop operations for commercial tractors, trailers, and related equipment.
• Establish and execute fleet maintenance strategy, operating standards, staffing models, and performance expectations across Company maintenance locations and outsourced service providers.
• Monitor fleet condition, equipment availability, out-of-service units, shop workload, and operational demand; establish priorities and coordinate repairs to maintain adequate equipment capacity.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance and inspection programs based on manufacturer specifications, operating conditions, fleet history, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure repairs are properly diagnosed, authorized, completed, documented, and quality-checked before equipment is returned to service.
• Partner with Operations, Safety, Dispatch, and drivers to respond to breakdowns, coordinate roadside service, communicate equipment status, and minimize service disruption.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely maintenance records, work orders, inspection documentation, parts usage, warranty information, and vehicle histories in designated systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements, including inspection, repair, maintenance, and recordkeeping standards; promptly address identified defects and out-of-service conditions.
• Establish and enforce safe work practices, personal protective equipment requirements, housekeeping standards, environmental procedures, and Company policies; investigate shop incidents and implement corrective action.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate maintenance personnel; establish clear performance expectations, ensure appropriate technical training, and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and conduct.
• Lead through maintenance supervisors, shop leads, and other technical leaders; build leadership capability, succession coverage, and consistent practices across the maintenance organization.
• Plan and manage the annual maintenance budget; monitor labor, parts, tires, outside repairs, road-service, and capital costs; identify variances and implement responsible cost controls without compromising safety or compliance.
• Manage parts inventory, purchasing, cores, warranties, and vendor relationships; maximize national-account and preferred-vendor pricing and verify invoice accuracy and service quality.
• Analyze maintenance trends and key performance indicators, including preventive maintenance compliance, equipment downtime, repeat repairs, roadside events, repair cycle time, maintenance cost per unit or mile, and vendor performance; develop corrective and continuous-improvement plans.
• Evaluate equipment condition and maintenance history and provide informed recommendations regarding replacement, disposal, specification, and capital planning.
• Develop long-range fleet replacement and maintenance-capital recommendations and present business cases, performance trends, risks, and resource needs to senior leadership.
• Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and provide requested maintenance records and corrective-action documentation.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and respond to urgent maintenance or breakdown issues outside normal business hours when operationally necessary.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in office, maintenance shop, yard, and outdoor environments. Approximately 25% or more of the workday may be spent outside.
• Regular exposure to noise, diesel exhaust, fumes, dust, grease, odors, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions; required personal protective equipment must be worn.
• Frequent interaction with commercial drivers, technicians, vendors, and operations personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Work hours may vary based on operational needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency response. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business, transportation, fleet management, diesel technology, or a related field preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive commercial fleet maintenance, diesel repair, or heavy-equipment service experience, including at least five years leading a maintenance operation or technical team at the manager level or above.
• Demonstrated knowledge of diesel tractors, trailers, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repair practices, shop operations, and vendor-managed repair services.
• Working knowledge of applicable DOT and FMCSA inspection, repair, maintenance, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Experience managing budgets, repair authorization, parts inventory, vendors, warranties, and maintenance performance metrics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and fleet maintenance, work-order, or transportation management systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving requirements.
