Job summary

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer for a potential contract at Mayport, FL, to provide oversight and supervision of personnel delivering operations, logistics and maintenance support to Commander Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE).

The role focuses on overseeing shipboard systems maintenance, ensuring ABYC and ABS compliance, and coordinating preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance with documentation and reporting to the government.

Qualifications

  • USCG Chief Engineer (Limited) Near Coastal license with 7 years of management experience
  • Alternative: 15 years of shipboard maintenance, hull, mechanical and electrical experience
  • Ability to supervise shipboard maintenance for outboard and diesel engines
  • Knowledge of ABYC and ABS standards
  • Ability to schedule manpower and equipment for ship movements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance on engineering, deck, firefighting and emergency equipment.
  • Develop work packages with specs, hours, and costs per vessel.
  • Maintain preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and document history.
  • Prepare monthly QA checks and written government reports.

Overview

Senior Maintenance Engineer (CNRSE-2026-25930)

Bowhead is seeking to network with a Senior Maintenance Engineer for a potential contract at Mayport, FL., to provide oversight and supervision of personnel providing operations, logistics and maintenance support to Commander Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE).

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Supervises / performs maintenance on all engineering, deck, firefighting and emergency equipment and is knowledgeable with the application of ABYC and AWS standards.
  • Must be experienced in supervising and maintaining a preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance system, documentation of machinery history, generating maintenance actions due, completed, deferred and drafting reports for accomplishment rate, developing work packages with specifications and hours expended along with costs associated with each vessel or equipment.
  • Will conduct and document quality assurance checks of the maintenance program monthly and provide a written monthly report to the government that includes the weekly reports provided by the Maintenance System Administrator.

Qualifications
  • (1) a USCG Chief Engineer (Limited), Near Coastal license with resume documented seven (7) years of management experience in routine operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repairs of shipboard systems and outboard engines OR (2) have 15 resume documented years of comparable experience with the maintenance and repair of shipboard systems, hull, mechanical and electrical with an emphasis on outboard and diesel engines.
  • Must have the ability to guide and direct small boat maintenance to include outboard engine, diesel engine and hull predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance requirements.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of United States Coast Guard licensing requirements, and the ability to schedule required manpower and equipment for ship movements and operations.
  • Must be knowledgeable with American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) standards.
  • Must be able to develop shipyard and ship repair work packages with specifications.
  • Experience with Depot Level small craft maintenance actions and Drydocking and overhaul of barges and larger vessel is highly desirable.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
