Job summary

Alithya in the United States is seeking a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer to work on low-level z/OS tooling in a test environment. The role is assembler-centric, operating below the application layer and collaborating with infrastructure, application and security teams to implement module-level changes and diagnostics.

You will write and maintain HLASM code, build modules, work with VSAM/QSAM, develop subsystem exits (CICS, Db2, IMS or MQ), and use JCL/REXX to automate steps while

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on z/OS experience with focus below the application layer.
• Strong HLASM skills; COBOL/PL/I not a substitute.
• Binder and linkage-editor fluency.
• Knowledge of Language Environment internals and VSAM/QSAM control blocks.
• Z/OS security model (APF, authorized concatenations) familiarity.
• JCL, REXX proficiency; dump and abend analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain HLASM code that runs in the runtime/subsystem environment.
• Build and package modules and analyze load modules.
• Work with VSAM/QSAM control blocks and Language Environment.
• Develop and install subsystem exits (CICS, Db2, IMS or MQ).
• Automate build, install and verification steps with JCL and REXX.
• Troubleshoot dumps and abends; demonstrate behavior-neutral changes before ship.
