Job summary

Alithya in Dallas seeks a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer to work on low-level IBM z/OS tooling in a test environment. The role is assembler-centric and sits below the application layer, collaborating with infrastructure, application and security teams.

You will write and maintain HLASM code, build modules, work with VSAM/QSAM, and develop subsystem exits (CICS, Db2, IMS or MQ). JCL/REXX automation and robust dump/abend analysis are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on z/OS experience, with significant time spent below the application layer.
• Strong HLASM skills (not substitutable by COBOL or PL/I experience).
• Binder and linkage-editor fluency.
• Working knowledge of Language Environment internals, VSAM/QSAM control blocks, and the z/OS authorization model (APF, authorized concatenations).
• Comfort with JCL and REXX; dump and abend analysis (IPCS, SLIP, GTF or component trace).
