Job summary

The City of New York seeks a Senior Mainframe Architect/Programmer Analyst to support a complex PMS replacement project and related payroll/pension systems. You will design, program, and assess change impact in a mainframe environment, working with COBOL, IMS/D82, and related tools.

Under the technical lead, you will review specifications, provide architectural guidance, and ensure production payroll/pension processes run smoothly, including on-call coverage for off-hours.

Qualifications

• The candidate has deep COBOL mainframe experience and can review complex requirements.
• Experience in architecture and design of large mainframe systems is required.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and enterprise integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and assess impact of changes to mainframe systems.
• Review specifications and estimate effort for changes.
• Provide technical guidance and architectural input with the lead and analysts.
• On-Call for overnight and weekend Payroll and Pension processes.
