Job summary

Testing Site - JPMC is seeking a Software Engineer III – Mainframe Developer who will dive into solving business problems through innovative engineering practices and solid mainframe experience.

You will work on COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and related tooling, contribute to secure production code, code reviews, and collaborate with teams to improve reliability and performance in a delivery-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Mandatory hands-on experience on COBOL, JCL, VSAM and CICS.
• Strong experience in tools like CHANGEMAN, FILEAID, ZEKE and CA VIEW.
• Strong technical development experience on effectively writing code, code reviews, best practices code refactoring.
• A delivery focused approach to work and the ability to work without direction.
• Mandatory hands-on Cloud Technology.
• Experience with various source control tools like GIT.
• Experience in Agile development lifecycle methodology.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
