Job summary

enGen seeks a seasoned Mainframe Senior Architect to lead performance, capacity management, and cost optimization for IBM z/OS environments. The role requires expert knowledge of z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, RMF/SMF, and WLM in a Parallel Sysplex setting.

You will forecast hardware needs, tune workloads, and collaborate with DevOps and leadership to ensure scalable, cost-efficient operations. Responsibilities include proactive problem solving, metrics extraction, executive reporting, and alignment

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years in mainframe systems within large, multi-LPAR Parallel Sysplex Z/OS environments.
• Proficient in real-time performance monitoring, capacity management and cost optimization.
• Deep experience with RMF, SMF, WLM and related management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead capacity forecasting, trend analysis and workload modeling for future readiness.
• Tune KERNEL parameters and WLM policies to optimize critical mainframe workloads.
• Analyze RMF/SMF data and create executive dashboards for performance visibility.
• Manage IBM mainframe pricing models (MSUs/MIPS) for cost-effective capacity.
• Collaborate with application, DBA, and DevOps teams and report to executives.
• Identify preventative strategies to resolve bottlenecks during peak windows.
