Job summary

Cactus Varied Industries in Amarillo, TX is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our fabrication and machine shop team. You will set up and operate CNC and manual equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision components for millwright, agricultural, and industrial applications.

Candidates should have 5+ years of machining experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and proficiency with precision measuring tools.

Qualifications

5+ years of machining experience on CNC and/or manual equipment.
Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
Ability to read engineering drawings or CAD drawings and interpret tolerances.
Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).
Strong shop math and dimensional calculation skills.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual lathes, drill presses, and other machine shop equipment.
Produce precision-machined parts for millwright projects and industrial applications.
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
Machine components to tight tolerances, including ±0.005 inch.
Determine setups, tooling, speeds, feeds, and sequences for assigned jobs.
Inspect work with calipers, micrometers, and gauges; perform first-piece inspections.
