Job summary

TOPS Products LLC in New Jersey seeks a skilled machine operator to set up, adjust and run a range of printing and binding equipment, including cutters, folders, collators, stitchers and binding machines. The role requires monitoring safety, quality, output and productivity while coordinating multiple stations on a single machine.

You will work with the crew, perform adjustments, read job orders and use hand tools, tape measures and standard instruments to maintain precision.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of the setup, adjustment, procedures, capabilities and limitations of equipment to perform the full range of standard work.
• Comprehensive knowledge of machinability of different paper weights, sizes, kinds and colors to identify paper conditions and adjust accordingly.
• Thorough knowledge of limitations and capabilities of all machines used for unusual set ups or combinations.
• Familiarity with basic mathematics and ability to read a tape measure for dimensional accuracy.
• Ability to use a wide range of tools to maintain machine accuracy and operation.
• Skill in using hand tools for adjustments and maintenance on powered machines.
• Skill in operating folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing, tape machines.
• Ability to read and interpret written work indicating machine operations and sequence.
• Requires lifting 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate a variety of machines with multiple stations and functions.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and perform needed adjustments.
