Reddit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Media Ranking ML teams, shaping relevance, discovery, and personalization for the core product.

You’ll drive a high-impact group of engineers and collaborate across engineering, product, and platform teams to deliver scalable AI-powered solutions for a massive user base. The role emphasizes strategic leadership, hands-on ML excellence with transformers/LLMs, and a focus on responsible AI, reliability, and measurable business impact

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading ML teams.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML systems, including transformer-based architectures, sequence models, or LLMs.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Media Ranking teams. In this role, you’ll lead a high-impact team of Machine Learning Engineers dedicated to improving relevance, personalization, and discovery of the core product. Reddit is investing big on making media (video and audio) as the core components of our experience around which conversations happen and users connect with the community. Your work will directly shape the personalized experiences of over 120M+ daily users.

Responsibilities:

• Define Technical Vision & Strategy: Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Feed Relevance, aligning cutting-edge ML solutions with Reddit’s product and business objectives.
• Team Leadership & Development: Coach and support the development of your team, constantly seeking opportunities to grow their skills and impact.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Work with cross-functional partners from across the company to identify key areas of opportunity, set expectations, and communicate your team’s work.
• Technical Execution & Delivery: Oversee the design, development, and optimization of sophisticated relevance, discovery, and content distribution systems.
• Platform & Infrastructure Collaboration: Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to chart a path to the next generation of AI-powered solutions for Reddit.
• Operational Excellence: Maintain high standards for system performance, reliability, and efficiency in alignment with customer needs and responsible AI principles.
• Recruiting & Growth: Partner with our incredible recruiting team to attract, interview, and hire diverse and talented machine learning engineers, growing a world-class team.

Qualifications:

• Experience Leading ML Teams: 5+ years of experience building and managing high-performing ML teams.
• Deep ML Expertise: Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML systems, including transformer-based architectures, sequence models, or Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Technical Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of recommender systems, including candidate retrieval, ranking, value modeling, ecosystem dynamics, and measurement strategies.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and communicate a clear, compelling technical strategy that supports broader company objectives and addresses the needs of internal customers.
• Impact-Driven Mindset: Passion for developing scalable, well-designed, and responsible AI solutions that drive business value.
• Exceptional Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences and build strong relationships with cross-functional partners.

Pay Transparency:

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base salary range for this position is:

$266,000 - $372,400 USD
