Senior Machine Learning Manager – Ads Campaign Optimization

Description

As a Machine Learning (ML) Manager, you'll be responsible for building products and solutions that enable advertisers to optimize for their campaign goals and performance on the Apple Ads Platforms. In addition, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in influencing the roadmap and technical strategy in allied areas like auction optimization, advertiser recommendations, response prediction etc., all of which are critical for delivering enhanced experience for the advertisers on our platform.

  1. Define and implement the technical strategy for building solutions like budget and bid optimization for optimizing campaign performance and advertiser experience.
  2. Play a critical role in shaping the strategy and roadmap for allied areas like auction optimization, advertiser recommendations, response prediction etc. to deliver an optimal end-to-end experience for advertisers.
  3. Leverage innovative research and technology to deliver these capabilities at scale.
  4. Design and analyze sophisticated algorithms to deliver incremental improvements that are privacy compliant.
  5. Execute and analyze large-scale experiments to drive continuous improvements in ad effectiveness.
  6. Work closely with Engineering and Business teams to scale innovations, improving user experience and monetization potential across Apple’s advertising platform.
  7. Operate at utmost scale, ensuring efficient and reliable model deployment and execution.
  8. Develop and implement ad algorithms, optimization solutions, and marketplace data analyses within an ad network.
  9. Architect and scale intelligence systems, addressing operational concerns and performance optimizations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience leading teams that apply advanced statistical/ML methods to large, sophisticated datasets.
  • Track record of leading engineering teams from design to implementation, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Deep mathematical understanding of modern ML techniques, including linear algebra and statistics.
  • Experience working with operational teams on deployment, monitoring, and system management.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to investigate multiple streams of ad quality data, draw insights, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Experience in one or more of the following domains: Algorithms, Architecture, AI, Database Systems, Data Mining, Distributed Systems, Machine Learning, Networking, Statistics, Game Theory, Auction Design, Quantitative Analysis, or Systems Software implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with Python or Java in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in databases, SQL, and scripting languages for data processing and model deployment.
  • BS, or equivalent experience, in AI, ML, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams that apply advanced statistical/ML methods to large, sophisticated datasets.
  • MS/PhD, or equivalent experience, in AI, ML, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with online advertising domain highly preferred.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
