Job description

The Home Podcasts team within Spotify’s Personalization Mission focuses on recommending podcasts on Spotify’s Homepage and determining their placement, by building models that rank and find the perfect content tailored to each user. We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer passionate about personalization ML models, recommender systems, and related disciplines such as contextual bandits, causal inference, deep learning, and generative recommenders. These models are actively used and expanded by our teams. Join us to help keep millions of users engaged by making excellent recommendations on the Spotify Homepage. For collaboration, team members are expected to operate in the Eastern time zone.

What You'll Do

1. Be a technical leader within your team and within Spotify overall.
2. Coordinate technical projects across Spotify teams and facilitate collaboration with engineers, product owners, and designers to solve challenging problems for delivering media worldwide.
3. Act as a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
4. Architect, design, develop, and deploy ML models for podcast recommendations across various surfaces.
5. Lead within Home’s ML community and work collaboratively within existing platforms and systems.

Who You Are

1. You have experience as a technical leader or mentor, with a strong background in machine learning, especially recommender systems.
2. You have experience designing and building ML systems at Spotify, including with spotify-kubeflow and salem.
3. You are skilled in feature engineering and building scalable data pipelines in Scio.
4. You possess a deep understanding of ML systems and infrastructure.
5. You have experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch; experience with Kubeflow and Ray is a plus.

Where You'll Be

• Flexible work location options are available, ideally within the North America region, with collaboration in the Eastern Standard time zone.

The base salary range in the United States for this position is $176,166 to $251,666, plus equity. Benefits include health insurance, six months paid parental leave, 401(k), monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid holidays, and paid sick leave. These ranges may be adjusted in the future.
