Job summary

Aptyx in Ohio seeks an experienced Sr Shop Mechanic to lead the fabrication and assembly of custom machinery for medical device manufacturing. You will translate drawings into working equipment, collaborating with Engineering and Purchasing to bring designs from concept to final implementation.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial machinery, proficiency with MIG/TIG welding, mills, lathes, and strong troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and engineering specs.
• 5+ years in industrial machinery assembly or related hands-on mechanical work.
• Experience with hand and power tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex machinery independently.
• Experience with automation equipment or medical device manufacturing a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble custom machinery from drawings and specs.
• Operate mills and lathes to produce or modify parts.
• Weld using MIG and TIG as required.
• Install and align mechanical components and bearings.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly and startup.
• Maintain tools and shop areas for safety and organization.
• Assist with customer-site installations 1–2 times per year.
• Support engineers and junior staff as needed.
