Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Senior Vocational Nurse (LVN) Per Diem at the Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion in La Jolla. Under supervision, the LVN PD provides the full range of patient care, including triage, exam support, medication administration, and specimen collection.

Requirements include California LVN licensure, BART/BLS at hire, 2 years of relevant experience, and EPIC EMR familiarity. Per diem arrangement is 20% with 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, in a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - CA
• BART or BLS at hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months
• Two (2) years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgement and work in a team environment
• Knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, medication/supplies/equipment supply management

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of patient care activities under supervision, including triage, exam prep, and assisting with examinations
• Administer medications and draw blood
• Prepare and process laboratory tests and specimens
• Assist with training and validation of LVN competencies and other staff as required
• Handle more complex tasks and provide patient education
• Collaborate effectively with team to meet patient care needs
