Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Senior Vocational Nurse per diem to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a clinical department. Responsibilities include triage support, preparing patients for examinations, administering medications, and assisting with lab work and care coordination.

The role requires an LVN license in California, BART/BLS at hire, and at least two years of experience. EPIC EMR experience is preferred, with opportunities to train staff and contribute to quality

Qualifications

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license issued by the state of California.
• BART or BLS certification at time of hire; plan to obtain BART within 6 months.
• Minimum of two years of relevant nursing experience.
• Knowledge of universal precautions and proper body mechanics.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize demands, exercise independent judgment, and work in a team.
• Experience with patient care, environmental care functions, and medication/supply management.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of patient care activities under supervision.
• Prioritize and assist in patient triage processing and examinations.
• Administer medications and draw blood; collect and prepare lab tests.
• Assist with training and validation of competencies of LVN staff.
• Provide patient education and staff training as required.
