CHS, Inc. is hiring a Senior Logistics Specialist to join our Allegiant Seed team. The successful candidate will oversee seed operations and logistics for the Allegiant seed brand in a remote role, with preference for proximity to the Inver Grove Heights, MN headquarters for periodic in-person collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years in supply chain or logistics, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication; familiarity with seed industry practices and ERP systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate seed production scheduling with production managers and communicate deliveries to customers.
• Create and monitor seed shipments in logistics tracking systems; resolve trucking delays with customers and suppliers.
• Negotiate freight, manage day-to-day logistics, and expedite transportation as needed.
• Develop routing, dispatch execution, route optimization, and cost containment to minimize miles.
• Maintain excellent customer service across order tracking, sales, logistics and inventory systems.
• Build and maintain strategic carrier relationships to control costs.
• Oversee seed quality assurance with suppliers through production contracts.
• Maintain records and prepare reports through shipping seasons and year-end activities.
• Act as liaison between client plants, storage facilities, internal teams, and customers to meet delivery goals.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with policies.

Summary

CHS, Inc. is hiring for a Senior Logistics Specialist to join our CHS is looking for a Logistics Senior Specialist to join our Allegiant Seed team. The successful candidate will help oversee seed operations and logistics for our Allegiant seed brand. The ideal candidate will be a driven problem solver who is detail oriented with strong quantitative skills while delivering excellent customer service.

This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates located within approximately 50 miles of CHS global headquarters in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, to support periodic in-person collaboration, team meetings, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan with seed production managers for timely supply, shipment scheduling, and communicating deliveries with our customers




• Load creation and monitoring seed shipments in seed logistics tracking systems. Identify and resolve any trucking delays or issues with customers and suppliers




• Work independently, manage freight negotiations and communicate with freight team on day-to-day logistical activities, expedite the transportation of products, troubleshooting as needed




• Research, establish and maintain routing and dispatch execution, route optimization, cost containment, and minimization of out-of-route and empty miles.




• Maintain excellent customer service by providing support to business units and other key stakeholders within our order tracking, sales, logistics and inventory management systems




• Develop and maintain strategic carrier relationships aiding in effective management of logistical costs




• Seed quality assurance; monitoring and working with suppliers through seed production contract completion




• Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports throughout the shipping season and year-end activities




• Act as the communication liaison between client plants, terminal storage facilities, internal sales/marketing, and customers to efficiently and economically meet product sales/delivery execution goals




• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions




• Perform other seed operational responsibilities as needed or assigned

Minimum Qualifications (required)

• High School diploma or GED




• 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of the seed industry & quality practices




• In-depth understanding of standard shipping practices of bulk and packaged seed




• Proficient in MS Office suite




• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships




• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal




• Experience working with logistics tools and ERP systems




• Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Statistics or related field
