Job summary

InnoForge in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to own localization and state estimation for a planetary surface vehicle. This on-site role combines advanced algorithms with real hardware testing, requiring hands-on development on real robots.

You will fuse IMU, camera, LiDAR, wheel odometry data, develop GPS-denied methods, and integrate with planning and autonomy. Strong C++ and Python skills are essential; space robotics background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience with EKFs, factor graphs, INS, visual odometry or LiDAR odometry.
• Ability to move between mathematical analysis, software implementation and field testing.
• Experience with outdoor robots or autonomous vehicles is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Own localization and state-estimation architecture for the vehicle.
• Fuse data from IMUs, cameras, LiDAR, wheel odometry and other navigation sensors.
• Develop GPS-denied localization approaches and test on hardware.
• Test software on real vehicles and in simulation.
• Integrate localization with planning, autonomy and hazard-avoidance systems.
• Deploy algorithms onto robots and participate in outdoor vehicle testing.
