Job summary

Trystar is seeking an experienced Application Engineer for Load Banks to join our Applications Engineering team, based out of Burnsville, MN with remote flexibility. You will own the engineered solution architecture for our load bank portfolio, collaborate with Sales, FSE, CX, and Manufacturing, and ensure UL 508A and NEC compliance across diverse configurations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 7–10+ years in power distribution/generation.
• 5+ years in load bank design or application engineering.
• Experience with resistive/reactive load banks and MV transformer configurations.
• Familiarity with UL 508A, UL 1012, NEC, IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the system and product SME for load bank portfolio across configurations (portable, stationary, trailer-mounted, rooftop).
• Provide configuration guidance, value engineering, and product selection aligned to application requirements.
• Support pre-sales activities: RFQs, specs, sizing, BOMs, conceptual drawings, and handoffs to engineering/manufacturing.
• Assist customers and internal partners with sizing, configuration, integration, and post-sales troubleshooting of load bank systems.
• Lead design reviews and value engineering for load bank configurations; document assumptions, exclusions, and risks.
