Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Lead Plant Compliance Engineer for our Gas organization in Dorchester, MA. You will oversee LNG compliance across multiple states, conducting audits, risk analyses, and policy standardization to ensure regulatory and company standards are met.

You will also lead LNG operator training, stay current with LNG codes and NFPA 59A, and travel as needed in MA, RI, and NY. A engineering degree and 5+ years in the process industry are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience preferred.
• Experience in the process industry including LNG, energy, utilities, LNG, chemical processing, or similar environments.
• Knowledge of LNG systems, processes, and operations.
• Understanding of applicable federal and state LNG regulations and industry standards (49 CFR Parts 191, 193, 199; NFPA 59A).
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience evaluating compliance and incidents to improve safety and reliability.
• Ability to collaborate across operations, engineering, compliance, and leadership teams.
• Strong organizational, project management, and program management skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York as required.
• Eligible to work in a safety-sensitive position and pass a DOT physical; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support during regulatory inspections and help achieve compliant outcomes.
• Conduct plant compliance inspections and assessments, identify deficiencies, and drive corrective actions.
• Enhance LNG Operator Training Program by developing and delivering training materials.
• Monitor LNG codes, regulations, and company policies; lead implementation and communicate changes to plant personnel.
• Develop and execute compliance action plans to strengthen LNG regulation adherence and PSM requirements.
• Build relationships with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders for efficient inspections and resolution of findings.
• Maintain LNG Process Safety Management expertise to support continuous improvement across plants.
