Job summary

Dial Senior Living in Westminster, CO seeks a skilled cook to independently prepare meals for residents and to support the Sous or Executive Chef in maintaining high quality and safety standards.

You will adapt recipes for special dining needs, ensure attractive plating, and help plan menus while upholding dietary guidelines and infection control practices for a senior living kitchen.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines.
• State food-handling regulations.
• Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
• Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.)
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation.
• Adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in new menu and special menu planning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery. Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed.
• Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Assist in the recording of Ready – to – Use – food items into the TELS website. Three items should be recorded for every meal.
• Record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website.
• Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
• Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
