Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living at South Boston is seeking a Dining Services Associate to assist the Dining Services Director in delivering a signature dining program for residents. The role focuses on friendly, responsive service and a memorable dining experience aligned with the community’s core values.

The position requires food handler certification, prior food service experience, and the ability to learn new tasks. Shifts include mornings with every other weekend work.

Qualifications

  • Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the food service industry.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
  • Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances; tolerate heat.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a sanitary manner.
  • Be familiar with HACCP, WHMIS.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment through proper hygiene.
  • Serve meals in a pleasant, respectful manner considering residents’ needs.
  • Operate and clean equipment; follow cleaning schedules.
  • Prepare dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear dishes.
  • Receive and store stock properly; follow procedures.
  • Follow cleaning procedures during power outages when needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.
