Job summary

Homewood Living Martinsburg is seeking a Dietitian to implement nutrition services in the dietary department and support the Food Service Manager in daily operations. The role includes nutrition assessments, menu supervision for regular and therapeutic diets, care planning participation, staff training, and developing nutrition education programs to benefit residents and the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major in foods, nutrition, dietetics, or the equivalent.
• Current dietetic registration and is an active member of the American Dietetic Association.
• Completion of a dietetic internship or equivalent program approved by the American Dietetic Association.
• At least one year's experience in a related field of dietary work.
• Possesses management ability including skills in written and verbal communication, reasoning and coaching.
• Must have qualities of leadership, initiative, good judgement and dependability.
• Must be able to life and transfer 30 pounds.
• Computer skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
• Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
• Supervises and approves the management of menus for regular and therapeutic diets, using appropriate diet modifications and individualize needs when necessary. Assists with menu planning for special functions.
• Performs test tray analysis to determine appropriate food preparation and distribution, ensuring variety, adequate seasoning, eye appeal, proper temperature, quantities and resident acceptance. Prepares reports as required.
• Counsels residents and staff on nutrition related issues and resolves problems as needed.
• Develops resident care plans and attends care planning conferences.
• Plans and presents in-service programs for dietary personnel; conducts training sessions for other departments as requested.
• Develops and markets nutrition education services and programs for nursing residents and the community.
• Develops departmental policies and procedures for all nutrition education services and programs.
• Develops, implements and evaluates quality assurance measures and ensures appropriate follow- up.
• Performs clinical dietitian duties, which include: initial nutrition assessment, reassessment as directed by facility policy, and determining those residents at risk for malnutrition.
• Maintains records as required by the Long-Term Care Facility regulations as mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Federal Regulatory agencies.
• Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
