Job summary

Oak Knoll Health & Rehabilitation is seeking a Dietary Cook to support residents by preparing nutritious meals according to dietary orders and safety standards. You will help create a positive dining experience while keeping a clean and organized kitchen.

Responsibilities include preparing meals per menus and therapeutic diets, reviewing diet orders, following food safety guidelines, and collaborating with the dietary team to ensure quality service.

Qualifications

• Patience, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward serving the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Previous cooking experience is preferred; healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements.
• Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and served according to quality and food safety standards.
• Review production sheets and resident diet orders to ensure accuracy.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
• Monitor food temperatures and follow all state, federal, and facility food safety regulations.
• Assist with meal service as needed and work collaboratively with the dietary team.
• Follow all infection prevention, sanitation, Universal Precautions, and workplace safety procedures.
