Job summary

Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate Dietary Cook to support our senior living residents. You will determine menu quantities, assist in inventory, and supervise dietary staff while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, open communication, and adherence to dietary plans, with opportunities for education reimbursement and comprehensive benefits. Evening and weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
• Facility operates 24 hours a day; schedules may vary.
• Open communication, professionalism, ethical practice, relationship management, and confidentiality are expected.

Responsibilities

• Review planned menus to determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups.
• Order food to meet weekly menus and notify the Dietary Supervisor of shortages.
• Maintain perpetual supplies inventory and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Consult with the Dietary Supervisor about leftovers, storage and labeling.
• Supervise dietary workers during washing, trimming, or preparing food.
• Train and orient new dietary staff and supervise them.
• Prepare ingredients according to recipes using kitchen equipment.
• Cook meat, fish, and fowl and portion servings per menu diets.
• Observe infection prevention and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
