Job summary

Merrill Gardens is seeking a Senior Living Cook - Part Time Pastry Assistant to support residents with high-quality meals in a caring senior living community. The role emphasizes safe, nutritious food preparation, batch cooking, and timely service while upholding food safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience in quality food preparation, experience with scratch cooking in high-volume settings, and solid computer skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in quality food preparation.
• Scratch cooking in a high volume, fine dining setting.
• Proficiency in computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, etc.
• 1 year previous dining experience in food preparation.
• High School diploma required or GED; college degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing all food items following production amounts, proper recipes, and procedures.
• Ensures all food items are prepared in a timely fashion, using batch-cooking and cook-to-order when appropriate.
• Prepares all food products to ensure highest level of food safety and preserves nutrients for residents’ dietary needs.
• Attends all dining services meetings and trainings.
• Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety standards: cleans and sanitizes areas, follows storage procedures, maintains temperature records, and completes assigned cleaning.
