Qualifications

• One year experience in institutional food service preferred.
• Basic understanding of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
• Understanding of person-centered care.
• Knowledge of professional standards of practice in job situations.

Responsibilities

• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures and safe food handling guidelines.
• Follows standardized recipes.
• Prepares foods according to menus developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks or prepares meals in quantities served at proper temperatures and times.
• Uses food supplies efficiently to prevent waste.
• Prepares and maintains food alternatives for resident choices and refusals.
• Assists with storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.
• Operates institutional kitchen equipment per guidelines and schedule.
• Communicates with supervisor to maximize resident satisfaction.
• Assists Dietary Manager with survey preparation and interactions with surveyors.
