Dial Senior Living in Iowa City is seeking a Full-Time Kitchen Cook to prepare meals for residents and support the Sous or Executive Chef in maintaining high food quality and safety standards.

You will manage daily meal production, adhere to dietary guidelines for residents, and ensure proper food handling, labeling, and storage. The role requires 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living or healthcare, plus ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation.
• Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in new menu and special menu planning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery. Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed.
• Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Assist in the recording of Ready – to – Use – food items into the TELS website. Three items should be recorded for every meal.
• Record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website.
• Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
• Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
