Dial in Iowa City, IA is seeking a full-time Cook to independently prepare meals for residents and support the kitchen team. The role emphasizes high food quality, safety standards, and efficient production for daily meals.

You will work with the Sous or Executive Chef to maintain presentation, proper storage, and record-keeping. Prior senior-living or healthcare kitchen experience is preferred, with a strong focus on teamwork and resident dining needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation.
• Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in new menu and special menu planning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed.
• Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Assist in the recording of Ready - to - Use - food items into the TELS website.
• Record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website.
• Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
• Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
