Job summary

Ovation Heartwood Preserve in Omaha, NE is seeking a Cook to join our senior living dining team. You will prepare meals for residents, ensure food safety, and support daily kitchen operations; prior cook/line cook/prep cook or food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of Cook experience in hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
• Current ServSafe Manager certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to read/measure recipes and production sheets accurately.
• Requires a valid Food Handler card from local Health Department.
• CPR/BLS certification must be maintained during employment.
• Demonstrates initiative and proper judgment in meal setup and using leftovers.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Prepare alternative menu options and snacks for residents.
• Adapt recipes to meet dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian).
• Accommodate memory care dining challenges with flexible options.
• Maintain a calm, inviting dining environment and social atmosphere.
• Ensure strict food safety, sanitation, and storage per ServSafe guidelines.
• Log temperatures daily and monitor inventory and quality.
• Collaborate with dietary and nursing staff to align care plans with resident diets.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment upkeep.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
