Job summary

The Aspenwood Company is seeking dedicated Cooks to prepare a variety of meals for residents in a senior community. You will ensure dietary needs are met, monitor quality, and present dishes attractively in a busy kitchen.

Full-time position requiring weekend and holiday availability. Strong emphasis on sanitation, teamwork, and reliable performance in a compassionate care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; culinary school training is a plus.
• Accredited food handler certification within 60 days, per State guidelines.
• 6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
• Team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent physical condition and stamina.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to recipes.
• Adhere to residents' dietary needs and restrictions.
• Monitor food temperature, taste, and quality.
• Use utensils and grillers to cook and present dishes.
• Dress dishes for presentation before serving.
• Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly; ensure equipment is cleaned and off when closing.
• Store food properly to maintain freshness and safety.
• Check quality of ingredients and monitor stock levels.
• Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines and documentations.
• Assist in training new kitchen staff.
• Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.
• Attend required in-service trainings.
• Be an active member of the community emergency response team.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
