Job summary

Frederick Living invites applications for the Director of Pastoral Services. The role leads spiritual care for a diverse senior community, coordinating chaplaincy activities and engaging with local churches to enrich residents and staff.

The position requires a theology/pastoral degree, pastoral leadership experience, and CPE units. Flexibility for extended hours and weekends is a plus. Driving may be preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in theology, pastoral ministries or similar area.
• Experience in pastoral leadership within a congregation.
• 1–3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
• Must minister in an inter-denominational capacity for older adults.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead worship services, prayer opportunities, memorial services, and Bible studies.
• Coordinate visiting clergy, congregations, musicians, and volunteers.
• Develop trusting relationships with residents via regular presence and pastoral care.
• Provide spiritual and emotional support during illness, grief, or life events.
• Offer spiritual presence during end-of-life experiences and hospital visits.
• Facilitate bereavement and grief support groups when needed.
• Maintain contact with supporting churches and pastoral care leadership.
• Oversee the Employee Compassion and Relief Fund distribution.
