Job summary

The Bristal in East Northport, NY is seeking a part-time Lifestyle Coordinator to plan and coordinate recreational activities for residents, including those in Reflections Memory Care. You will help residents stay engaged through outings, crafts, music, and social events in a luxury senior living community.

Ideal applicants have at least one year with seniors, six months activity leadership, strong communication and a caring personality, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• One year’s prior experience working with a senior population, and those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia a plus.
• At least 6 months of Recreation activity experience or event leadership experience.
• Be outgoing, warm and have a genuine caring personality.
• Be able to create programs that get residents involved and excited.
• Be dependable and able to supervise activities, special events and safe excursions for the residents.
• Has creative talents in one or more areas, such as art, music, readings, dance, etc.
• Always maintaining oneself well‑groomed and properly attired.
• Demonstrates good listening and communication skills and always presents a positive spirit and professional attitude.
• Possesses a proven ability to lead classes and other instructional learning sessions and speak in front of a group setting with ease, confidence and clarity.
• Holds a high school diploma or equivalent at a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate recreational programs for residents and Reflections Memory Care residents.
• Plan safe trips to galleries, theaters, music venues, and cultural programs.
• Prepare, print and distribute monthly calendars, newsletters and memos.
• Assist the Director of Recreation in their absence.
• Maintain knowledge of resident backgrounds and use this to encourage engagement and participation.
