Job summary

The Pines of Newmarket, part of Merrill Gardens, is seeking an Active Living Assistant to support residents and lead activities in a warm senior living community. This part-time role involves delivering programs, engaging residents in daily activities, and coordinating family events to foster wellbeing and companionship.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma and some related experience in senior care or caregiving. A compassionate, reliable approach and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Maintain confidentiality of residents, staff and family information.
• Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Maintain records for department in a compliant manner.
• Communicate ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrate effective listening when interacting with residents and team.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement activity programs with guidance from the Director.
• Deliver and lead activities, coordinate family activity monthly.
• Present professional demeanor aligned with service philosophy.
• Familiarize with residents and support ADLs and social skills.
• Encourage and motivate residents; participate in employer training.
• Assist as Activities staff in absence of supervisor.
