Job summary

Chesterton Manor is seeking an Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility in Chesterton, IN. You will conduct activities for residents under the direction of the Director of Activities and help meet residents’ emotional, recreational, and social needs on an individual basis.

Part-Time position with every other weekend and holidays required. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, escorting residents to programs, supporting craft and recreational

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous long-term care or experience working with the elderly or disabled preferred.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with normal activities of daily living such as writing letters, making phone calls, and registering to vote.
• Assist with record keeping of resident progress and activity attendance.
• Escort residents to activity programs and events.
• Assist with mail delivery, flower and plant care, pet/fish care, fundraising activities, newsletters, and facility announcements.
• Help plan and carry out activities that promote entertainment, exercise, relaxation, creativity, and social interaction.
• Provide residents with craft supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Supervise and assist residents during craft and recreational activities.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities that support emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual well’being.
