Job summary

NHC HealthCare Oakwood is seeking a compassionate, energetic Activities Assistant to join our team on a part-time, every-other-weekend schedule. The role focuses on providing meaningful recreational opportunities that meet physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs, in a hospice-like setting for seniors.

The ideal candidate is mature, self-motivated, dependable, and passionate about working with elderly individuals.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Ability and desire to work with elderly patients and residents.
Willingness to learn new ideas, programs, and skills.
Positive attitude and good sense of humor.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Assist Life Enrichment/Recreation Director in identifying patients' interests and activity needs.
Help plan and provide therapeutic and recreational programs.
Provide activities that support physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Participate in one-on-one activities with patients and residents.
Encourage participation and create an engaging, positive environment.
Build positive relationships with patients, families, community members, and partners.
Maintain positive community relations and assist with program events and weekend activities.
