Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith P.C. is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Litigation Practice Group. This full-time role supports attorneys through all phases of litigation with case management, legal research, and document drafting.

Requirements include a minimum of five years of litigation paralegal experience and a preference for civil defense exposure. The position offers opportunities to work across Michigan offices from Southfield to Lansing, Grand Rapids, and more.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of litigation paralegal experience.
• Experience in civil defense litigation strongly preferred.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or ABA-approved paralegal program/certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned litigation files from intake through resolution.
• Develop case plans, litigation timelines, and client status reports.
• Serve as a primary contact for clients with regular communications.
• Review files for outstanding discovery and prepare for hearings, depositions, mediation, and trial.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, reports, and case summaries.
• Draft complaints, motions, discovery requests/responses, affidavits, subpoenas, and trial materials.
• Coordinate all phases of discovery, draft responses, and prepare deposition summaries.
• Prepare materials for expert witnesses, trial notebooks, and courtroom use.
• Coordinate IMEs and communicate with expert witnesses regarding records and testimony.
• Prepare and electronically file pleadings with Michigan state and federal courts.
• Record billable time accurately and assist with pre-bill review.
