Job description

Epiq Counsel is seeking a Senior Litigation Counsel to support our client, a global technology and entertainment company, on its U.S. litigation team.

This is an interim engagement for a seasoned litigator who can step into a busy in-house team and carry a docket from day one. You'll manage a broad portfolio of commercial litigation, handle regulatory inquiries, subpoenas, and investigations, and serve as a trusted advisor to litigation leadership and the business. The team wants a generalist with range, someone comfortable moving across subject areas rather than confined to one narrow specialty, and a senior voice who can direct outside counsel, guide junior colleagues, and turn legal risk into practical advice the business will act on.

About the Client

Our client is one of the world's leading technology and entertainment companies, operating at global scale across consumer products, digital platforms, and content. Its in-house litigation team manages a diverse, active portfolio spanning commercial disputes, regulatory matters, and intellectual property, and works closely with business leaders across the organization. This role sits within that team, reporting to litigation leadership, and will have real ownership of matters from pre-litigation through resolution.

  • Duration: Three months, with potential to extend
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Work Model: Remote
  • Start Date: As soon as available
  • Pay Rate: $120/hour (approximately $$250,000 annualized)
  • Benefits: Healthcare, paid vacation, paid holidays, paid bar dues, plus engagement support and coaching
Responsibilities
Commercial Litigation Management (approximately 50%)
  • Manage and advance matters across a diverse commercial litigation portfolio, including pre-litigation strategy, discovery, motion practice, and settlement negotiations
  • Direct and oversee outside counsel, keeping matters on strategy, on schedule, and on budget
  • Draft, review, and negotiate litigation‑related correspondence, filings, and settlement documents
  • Assess and manage litigation risk across a wide range of subject areas, including intellectual property matters as they arise
Regulatory Inquiries, Subpoenas & Investigations (approximately 30%)
  • Handle and respond to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and third‑party subpoenas, coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel
  • Manage litigation docket activity and inbound legal inquiries with sound prioritization
Business Partnership & Litigation Innovation (approximately 20%)
  • Partner directly with in-house litigation leadership and cross‑functional business teams to deliver timely, practical advice, and secure business buy‑in on strategy
  • Contribute to litigation playbooks and process improvements
  • Help the team think through how AI can be used within litigation to work more efficiently and deliver better results
Qualifications
  • JD and active U.S. law license in good standing (California admission preferred)
  • 12+ years of litigation experience (ideally 12–18 years), at a law firm and/or in‑house legal department
  • Significant commercial litigation experience across a broad range of matters
  • Demonstrated experience handling regulatory inquiries, investigations, and/or subpoena responses
  • The seniority to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and ramp up quickly with minimal oversight
  • A senior voice, with experience guiding junior attorneys or support staff (formal management experience not required)
  • Proven ability to translate legal advice for business audiences and earn buy‑in
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
  • Technology industry experience (strongly preferred)
  • Antitrust litigation or counseling experience
  • Prior in‑house experience or an in‑house secondment, or a track record of working closely with corporate legal teams
  • Experience building or using litigation playbooks
  • Experience evaluating or helping roll out AI tools in a litigation or legal setting
Why This Role

This is a chance to take real ownership of a broad, active litigation docket inside a sophisticated global company, working directly with litigation leadership and the business rather than from behind an outside‑counsel wall. It's ideal for a senior litigator who enjoys variety, likes being the person the business calls first, and has ideas about how litigation teams should be using AI, with the flexibility and support of the Epiq Counsel model.
