Job summary

BasisPath Inc. seeks an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to manage 30+ RHEL servers, VMware environments, and mixed OS integration in a security‑minded enterprise. You will handle configuration, patching, monitoring, and support for Linux, Windows, and Unix systems, including AD, DNS, and Splunk.

This role requires a TS/SCI clearance and Security+ certification. You will collaborate with security, network, and development teams to ensure availability, performance, and compliant operations

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux system administration, including system configuration, package/software management using DNF/RPM, patching, file systems, file management, networking, and system services.
• Experience with Linux services and protocols, including SSH/SFTP, HTTP, Chrony/NTP, firewalls, and network configuration.
• Experience working in VMware virtualized environments, including virtual machine creation, configuration, resource allocation, snapshots, and basic system recovery.
• Understanding of Active Directory concepts, Windows administration, user account management, and DNS.
• Familiarity with Quest authentication solutions and cross‑platform authentication between Windows, Linux, and Unix systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of Splunk, including installation and configuration.
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues in an enterprise IT environment.
• Strong customer‑service and communication skills, with the ability to provide technical assistance to users and development teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a mixed Linux, Windows, and Unix environment.
• Experience supporting development teams in an enterprise IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain approximately 30 RHEL servers across multiple security tiers.
• Perform Linux system administration, configuration, patching, software/package management, file management, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux services and protocols, including SSH/SFTP, HTTP, Chrony/NTP, firewalls, and related system services.
• Maintain the Red Hat software repository and manage the monthly distribution of approved RPM updates to Linux servers.
• Maintain current Trellix antivirus updates and configurations across Linux systems.
• Administer and maintain Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) servers across applicable network security tiers.
• Perform system and hardware monitoring to maintain server performance, availability, and reliability.
• Create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines in VMware environments, including resource allocation and system snapshots.
• Support system recovery activities and troubleshoot operating system, application, network, hardware, and virtualization issues.
• Provide technical support to end users and development teams.
• Support a mixed operating‑system environment consisting of Linux, Windows, and Unix systems.
• Provide backup Windows administration support, including user account creation and management.
• Assist with Active Directory and DNS administration.
• Support cross‑platform user authentication across Windows, Linux, and Unix systems using Quest.
• Install, configure, and maintain Splunk components as required.
• Collaborate with system administrators, network teams, security personnel, and development staff to resolve technical issues and maintain system availability.
