New York Technology Partners in Hartford, CT is seeking a Linux/Unix Infrastructure Engineer for a hybrid W2 contract role. You will serve as the top escalation point for complex OS issues and oversee large-scale Red Hat and Unix environments.

The position emphasizes automation, IaC with Terraform, proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and incident management to ensure availability, performance, and security across the compute estate.

Qualifications

• Escalation point for Linux/Unix infrastructure (L3 SME).
• Manage and support RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS, SUSE, and Unix environments.
• Lead OS patching, upgrades, remediation, and lifecycle management.
• Develop automation and IaC using Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Serve as L3 SME for Linux/Unix infrastructure.
• Manage and support large-scale RHEL/Oracle Linux/CentOS/SUSE/Unix environments.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of OS/kernel/filesystem/networking/performance issues.
• Lead OS patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure system availability, stability, scalability, and operational compliance.
• Lead resolution of critical incidents and major outages.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• Review and approve changes related to compute infrastructure.
• Conduct capacity planning and resource optimization.
• Analyze system utilization, bottlenecks, and trends.
• Implement proactive monitoring and self-healing mechanisms.
• Drive toil reduction through automation and operational innovation.
• Develop and maintain shell scripting and automation solutions.
• Automate provisioning, patching, compliance checks, and operational tasks.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform.
