Trident Consulting is seeking a Lead Linux Infrastructure Engineer for a Hartford, CT area client. The role is Hybrid, contract (W2 only) with a pay rate of $70-72/hr on W2.

Responsibilities include leading Linux/Unix infrastructure support, escalation, patching, capacity planning, automation, and Terraform-based IaC. The candidate will manage large-scale Linux environments, perform advanced troubleshooting, and drive incident resolution while ensuring availability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Extensive Linux/Unix infrastructure experience (RHEL/OEL/CentOS/SUSE).
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure environments and incident handling.
• Strong automation and scripting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the highest level technical escalation point for Linux/Unix infrastructure.
• Manage and support RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS, SUSE and Unix environments.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of OS, kernel, filesystem, storage, networking and performance issues.
• Lead OS patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure system availability, stability, scalability and compliance.
• Lead resolution of critical incidents and major outages.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts and automation solutions.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform.

Job Description/ Responsibilities

• Manage and support large-scale Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle Linux, CentOS, SUSE, and Unix environments.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of OS, kernel, filesystem, storage, networking, and performance issues.
• Lead OS patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure system availability, stability, scalability, and operational compliance.
• Lead resolution of critical incidents and major outages.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• Review and approve changes related to compute infrastructure.
• Conduct capacity planning and resource optimization.
• Analyze system utilization, bottlenecks, and trends.
• Implement proactive monitoring and self-healing mechanisms.
• Drive toil reduction through automation and operational innovation.
• Develop and maintain shell scripting and automation solutions.
• Automate provisioning, patching, compliance checks, and operational tasks.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform.
