Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, System Administrator to maintain Linux systems and NetApp storage in secure program areas. Responsibilities include patching, scripting, and leading local IT projects, with frequent coordination with engineering and security teams.

Required are 4+ years Linux/NetApp admin experience, 2+ years VMware, 1+ year Ansible, and active TS/SCI clearance. The role offers NY salary range with comprehensive benefits and potential offsite travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Four years of Linux and/or NetApp systems administration experience.
• Two years of experience with VMware or similar virtualization solutions.
• One year of experience with Ansible Automation.
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, NetApp Storage Devices, networking protocols, PowerShell or Bash, and security best practices.
• Current/active TS/SCI security clearance and CI Polygraph are required.
• CompTIA Security +, CISSP or any DoD 8570 IAT level I or higher approved certification.
• Ability to support overtime, as needed, and ability to lift equipment (50 LBS).
• Ability to support up to 20% offsite travel.

Responsibilities

• Subject Matter Expert responsible for the configuration and maintenance of Linux while ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and availability.
• Implement routine system updates and patches, remediate findings and vulnerabilities while maintaining compliance with industry standards.
• Monitor system health and proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools for deployment automation, striving for increased efficiency in our operational processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand program requirements and deliver tailored technical solutions.
• Communicate complex technical issues and strategies to management and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
