Job summary

SMX is seeking a highly motivated Linux Systems Administrator to support aircraft and weapons systems networks at the Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland. You will join a team delivering system administration, network maintenance, and security hardening across DoD-related environments.

Requirements include 8+ years of Linux experience, interim or full Top Secret clearance, and familiarity with Windows Server, VMware/vSphere, SAN, STIGs, and ACAS.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Linux experience in a software development environment is required.
• Clearance Required: Top Secret; interim TS is acceptable to start.
• Familiarity with Windows Server, VMware/vSphere Enterprise, SAN, Networking, STIGs, and ACAS.
• Experience with Atlassian tools.
• Knowledge of networking principles, theories, and concepts; ability to contribute to new ideas.
• CompTIA Security+ or other DoD INST 8570 compliant qualification is required.
• Operating system certification (Windows or Linux) is required.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support LAN/WAN and Internet systems or a segment of a network system.
• Monitor network to ensure availability for all users.
• Provide technical assistance to computer users.
• Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems.
• Perform maintenance to ensure networks operate with minimal interruption.
• Optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans and capabilities.
• Respond to unexpected or unauthorized service interruptions and outages.
• Diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution.
• Implement and ensure security preventive measures are fully functioning.
