Job summary

The Riverside Research Information Technology team is seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to support deployments to DoD and IC networks. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, and security of Linux systems, plus automation and documentation.

This short-term role is based in Beavercreek, Ohio and ends December 2026. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of enterprise Linux experience, with skills in Ansible, VMware, Git, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another related field of study.
• 5+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments.
• Experience with automation using Ansible or similar tools.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere.
• Experience working on deployment environments, including virtual machines.
• Knowledge of SSH, SCP, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and firewall concepts.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support Linux clients and servers in physical and virtual environments, ensuring high availability and security compliance.
• Manage Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, and other enterprise distributions.
• Perform operating system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening.
• Apply security updates and patches to Linux operating systems.
• Manage user access integrated with Active Directory, LDAP, or other identity management solutions.
