Job summary

UT San Antonio is seeking an experienced systems administrator to manage Linux servers and automation pipelines. You will support server operations, backups, patching, and app integration with ERP systems and AD, ensuring secure lifecycle management and SSL configurations.

The role includes troubleshooting OS-level issues, on-call rotation, and mentoring junior staff, in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

Required bachelor’s degree in CS, MIS or IT.
At least five years of IT and systems administration experience.
Experience with automation, scripting, Linux server operations, backups, patching and integration with enterprise applications.
Experience with VMware and ESXi.
Ability to connect applications to backend databases (MSSQL or others).
Knowledge of SSL certificates and AD/ERP integrations.
Strong teamwork and communication skills; on-call availability.

Responsibilities

Perform systems administration using automation, scripting, and standard procedures.
Support Linux servers, backups, patching, and ERP integrations.
Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and manage system lifecycles.
Troubleshoot OS-level performance and availability issues.
Manage services, storage, file systems, logging, and scheduled tasks.
Integrate server apps with Active Directory and ERP systems.
Configure applications to connect to backend databases.
Install and configure SSL certificates.
Participate in on-call rotation with occasional after-hours and weekend work.
May mentor lower-level team members.
