Efficient Computer is seeking a Senior Staff Linux Kernel Driver Engineer to own the kernel-mode driver for our Fabric accelerator and bring‑up workflows. You will work across QEMU, emulation, and FPGA environments to ensure day-one runtime readiness in pre-silicon stages.

Join a team collaborating with architecture, verification, and compiler groups to validate MMIO, interrupts, and memory models while delivering upstreamable kernel code and robust debugging capabilities.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent; M.S. is a plus.
• 7+ years of systems software with hands-on Linux kernel driver work.
• Deep Linux memory management, IOMMU/SMMU concepts, and unified memory.
• Experience with pre-silicon bring-up, emulation, and board bring-up.
• Strong kernel debugging skills across crash analysis and tracing.
• Excellent C and scripting skills; able to design ABI/HAL interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own the Linux kernel driver for the Fabric accelerator, including MMIO, IRQs, queues, and power management.
• Define Linux exposure of hardware via ioctl/sysfs and user-space ABI.
• Lead pre-silicon bring-up: QEMU models, boot path, and platform enablement.
• Debug across the stack with KGDB, JTAG, ftrace, and perf; diagnose memory issues.
• Establish kernel-level test coverage and regressive tests in emulation and hardware-in-the-loop.
