As a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer, you'll build, automate, and maintain robust IT infrastructure. You’ll ensure high availability, security, and performance through automation and modern DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Linux environments, scripting, automation, and troubleshooting complex system issues. You will play a key role in maintaining system uptime, implementing security best practices, optimizing performance, and supporting a growing, dynamic team of software, research, and systems engineers.

We seek to hire someone in the following locations: Sacramento, Berkeley, or New York City.


Responsibilities
  • Use programming and IAC tools to build highly automated and scalable Linux systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Design and implement components that are highly available and self-healing.
  • Create comprehensive metrics, monitoring, dashboard, and alerting systems in all areas of the infrastructure.
  • Implement systems and network security principles in all aspects of the environment.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration (preferably in production environments).
  • In-depth understanding of Linux fundamentals around filesystems, process scheduling, virtual memory, and other base primitives.
  • In-depth understanding of the TCP/IP network protocol and addressing.
  • Proficiency in using HTTP APIs in Python, Golang, or an equivalent language.
  • Experience with Configuration Management platform (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Experience with metrics, monitoring, and visualization tools. (Prometheus, Influx, Datadog)
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Github Actions)
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration.
  • Basic HPC cluster familiarity.

Compensation

The base salary for this position is $170,000 to $205,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation, such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
