CableLabs in Louisville, CO is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to design, deploy, and secure our Linux-based infrastructure across bare-metal, virtual, and cloud environments. You will lead automation, patch management, and incident response while mentoring teammates.

The role emphasizes reliability, security, and collaboration with development and security teams; the ideal candidate has 4+ years of hands-on Linux experience, strong scripting, IaC skills with Terraform/Ansible, and experience

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on Linux systems engineering experience in production, enterprise, lab, or mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience with on premise virtualization systems (Vmware, QEMU/KVM).
• Demonstrated experience with cloud platform deployment and maintenance of Linux systems.
• Experience administering, patching, securing, and troubleshooting Linux servers at scale with vulnerability management.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, with experience in infrastructure-as-code, source control, and monitoring/alerting tools.
• Strong documentation and communication skills, with ability to work independently and manage multiple systems or projects.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, maintain, and support Linux-based infrastructure across bare-metal, virtual, lab, and cloud-connected environments.
• Design and enforce Linux hardening standards and security policies; manage vulnerability response and automation to reduce manual effort.
• Manage and maintain Linux-hosted platforms (GitLab, LibreNMS, Nagios, Splunk) with current security release levels.
• Design and improve IT monitoring and alerting; respond to incidents and document fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Prioritize Linux tickets, patching, and lifecycle activities; provide guidance and mentorship.
• Collaborate with development, security, infrastructure, lab, and operations teams to reduce risk and explore new Linux technologies.
• Other duties as assigned.
