Job summary

Rockstar Games in New York City is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to build and support scalable Linux environments. This full-time, in-office role is based at Rockstar’s NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.

You will maintain Linux systems, manage patching and migrations, and develop procedures to ensure high availability in a production environment serving large-scale online services. Strong scripting and automation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years Linux experience with HTTP, DNS, LDAP, Kerberos/GSSAPI and distributed databases.
• RHEL/CentOS and configuration management with Chef, Puppet or Ansible.
• Experience in high-traffic, public-facing environments.
• Experience configuring Apache or NGINX servers.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Redis, Mongo, Airflow, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/S and SSL/PKI.
• Experience with major CDN providers.
• Scripting in Bash, Python or Perl.
• Experience with REST API automation.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on maintenance and administration of Linux based systems.
• Perform patching and support server migrations as needed.
• Develop standard operating procedures for high availability.
• Perform routine system maintenance to resolve issues.
• Support root cause analysis across infrastructure layers.
• Ensure highly available production environments during maintenance.
• Administer monitoring services such as Check_MK, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo.
• Provide timely and creative solutions to difficult problems.
