Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Systems Administrator in Melbourne, FL to architect and sustain our enterprise Linux desktop platform. You will act as the design authority for Linux endpoints and lead lifecycle governance.

Collaborating with Infrastructure, Security, Identity, Networking, and End-User Support, you will deliver a secure, scalable Linux environment at enterprise scale with emphasis on patching, automation, and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or graduate degree with 4+ years; or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 4+ years administering and engineering Linux endpoints, preferably in enterprise RHEL/Ubuntu environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as design authority and primary technical owner for enterprise Linux workstation architecture and standards.
• Define and maintain supported Linux distributions, kernel lifecycle strategy, and graphics stack.
• Build and maintain hardened OS images and zero-touch provisioning/enrollment workflows.
• Own upgrade strategy including in-place upgrade policy, rebuild criteria, pilot rings, and rollback plans.
• Qualify and sustain hardware compatibility across laptops, GPUs, docks, and multi-monitor configurations.
• Plan phased rollouts, risk assessments, rollback procedures, and post-implementation validation.
